"A Very Frustrating Day"

That's the way Tim described qualifying for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 yesterday. The troubles began when the car was unloaded. There were several mechanical problems with the car that had to be corrected before qualifying, leaving Tim with virtually no practice time. Then, as Tim was running his first qualifying lap the protective net came undone. Tim was startled by something hitting him on the shoulder, and it broke his concentration. He recovered a bit during the second lap, but by then his fate was sealed. Bottom line: Tim missed the race.

It's on to Iowa Speedway for the Prairie Meadows 250 on Saturday. Hopefully, all of the bad luck that could befall Tim did so in one day.

I think that's the first time I've heard of that happening, though I'm sure it must have happened to others. The first few races are always a struggle. I was so happy for Norm Benning that he finished in the top 10!

Why no provisional?

The #06 finished 23rd in 2007 owner points (ABC, Golden A team). Others (#48, #79) finished lower and earned a provisional?

Good question about the provisional because it seems Tim should have been able to use one based on last year's points. However, Tim's car was unable to reach the minimum speed needed to be in the field, missing it by .02 seconds.
